Bono says send Amy Schumer and Sacha Baron Cohen to defeat ISIS

U2's frontman Bono recently attended a discussion about the Middle East and the refugee crisis held by the US Senate in Washington, DC and suggested sending comedians to try and defeat Islamic State.

During the discussion, which took place yesterday (April 12), Bono admitted that humour could be a way to overthrow ISIS and went so far as to suggest that Amy Schumer and Sacha Baron Cohen could be the people for the job:

"It's funny... don't laugh, but I think comedy should be deployed. The first people that Adolf Hitler threw out of Germany were the Dadaists and surrealists. It’s like, you speak violence, you speak their language. But you laugh at them when they are goose-stepping down the street and it takes away their power."

"So I am suggesting that the Senate send in Amy Schumer and Chris Rock and Sacha Baron Cohen, thank you," he concluded, before explaining to the laughing audience that he was "actually being serious".

The Democratic senator for New Hampshire, Jeanne Shaheen, repsonded to his remarks and said: "Actually, that’s not the first time I’ve heard experts on how do we counter violent extremism talk about that... It’s one of the things that we’re looking at."

Amy Schumer heard the odd news and simply tweeted "holy shit" in response.
