Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading, global music publisher, today announced that multiple Latin Grammy winner Rosalía has been signed to an exclusive, worldwide co-publishing deal.

At 26-years-old, the Spanish songwriter-singer-producer Rosalía has become Latin Music’s breakout artist of the year and a fast-rising global crossover success. Her distinctive musical style mixes a groundbreaking fusion of classic Flamenco training - with urban rhythms, electronic beats, the lyrics of a young poet and her strong interest in visual arts, fashion and choreography.

On making the announcement, UMPG Chairman and CEO Jody Gerson said: “As an artist, Rosalía is totally in control and manifesting her own destiny. Beyond writing, producing and performing her own songs, she has created a new hybrid of flamenco music and is breaking cultural boundaries. You know greatness when you see it – when you watch Rosalía, you know she is an important voice. She will undoubtedly have an extraordinary career and UMPG looks forward to supporting her journey.”

(“I want to thank Jody for believing and trusting me, as a composer it is an honor to have signed with Universal Music Publishing. I feel very happy to be part of this house that has so many artists that I admire and in this new stage in my career, I will give the best of me.”)

Following a well-deserved “Best New Artist” Latin Grammy nomination for her 2016 debut album “Los Ángeles,” Rosalía’s artistry grew even more defined when her landmark second album “El Mal Querer” was released last fall to immense critical respect, and a #1 debut on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart. On the strength of six Latin Grammy nominations and two awards for the innovative advance single “Malamente,” and additional singles such as “Pienso en tu mirá,“ “Di mi nombre” and more, an abundance of year-end critical praise followed suit with Rosalia receiving numerous #1 picks for Best Album, Video, Song and New Artist of 2018.

The first half of 2019 has seen Rosalía’s trajectory continue to rise with a collaborative duet on James Blake’s new album, an appearance in Pedro Almodóvar’s just released new film “Dolor y Gloria”, and the skyrocketing success of her recent single “Con Altura (with J Balvin and El Guincho).” The fan embraced fusion of Flamenco and old-school reggaeton has already reached #2 on YouTube’s Global Music Videos Chart and been named as one of TIME’s “10 Best Songs of 2019 (thus far).”

Following her hugely successful Coachella performances, and having just dropped latest single “Aute Cuture,” Rosalía is now set to appear at numerous European festival dates across the summer and will return to the U.S. for a highly anticipated Lollapalooza performance in August.
