More weeks at top of the Official Single Chart than any other act in 2011

This week is another landmark in Rihanna's unstoppable UK success story. Rihanna has secured a QUADRUPLE Number One, simultaneously holding the top slot in the Official Albums Chart, Official Singles Chart, Radio Airplay Chart and TV Airplay chart.

Rihanna has also made history again this week by claiming TWO further Official Chart records. New album Talk That Talk debuted at Number One in the Official Albums Chart, making Rihanna the only female artist in Official Albums Chart history to have two different Number One albums in a calendar year.

Additionally, her single We Found Love retained its position at Number One in the Official Singles Chart, meaning that she held the top slot in both the albums and singles charts for the second time this year; no other female artist in history has ever topped both charts twice in the same year with different singles and albums.[1]

This achievement comes in the same week that Rihanna's new album Talk That Talk became one of the fastest selling albums of the entire year, selling over 100,000 copies in the first three days alone. Talk That Talk is Rihanna's third #1 UK album.

Rihanna appears on a staggering 20 singles in the Official Singles Chart this week. In 2011 alone her singles have spent 7 weeks in total at Number One, more than any other artist. In total Rihanna has clocked up 6 UK Number One singles, and her solo singles have held on to the top spot for an incredible 21 weeks.

Rihanna already holds records for being the only female artist to have a Number One single in 5 consecutive years, as well as the longest running Number One single of the Decade for 2007's Umbrella, which stayed at the top of the charts for 10 consecutive weeks.

Earlier this year Rihanna's UK record sales passed the 10 million mark in the UK alone, a milestone achieved six years after Mercury Music Group/Def Jam first launched her career in the UK. This figure has now already increased to over 13.5 million.

Rihanna was the highest selling singles artist of the year in 2010; she looks set to retain the crown this year, with 2.8 million singles sales already under her belt.

Commenting on these achievements, Mercury Music Group (UK) President Jason ILey said: "Rihanna is one of the greatest artists of our time, and so it is fitting that she breaks record after record, year after year. I'm very proud to have worked with her from the start of her recording career, and to have seen her achieve exceptional success in the UK. I have no doubt that 2012 will be yet another landmark year for Rihanna and that we will see even greater things from her in the future.”
