“…One of the finest new songwriters of his generation.”

–Rolling Stone

“He can sing. He has talent. He cares about something. And this makes you feel a little better about the world.”

-The New Yorker

“According to (Rick) Rubin, who’s worked with many of those musicians, ‘Jake’s poise and swagger far exceed his years; he seems to channel songs from another world.”

  -Vanity Fair

(Feb. 26, 2016 – New York, NY)  Called “one of the finest new songwriters of his generation” by Rolling Stone, Jake Bugg returns with his highly anticipated new album, ‘On My One’ June 17th via Island Records. The explosive first single, ‘Gimme The Love’, an intoxicating mix of funky drums and wah-wah guitar, is available today (include links) and impacts AAA radio on March 7th, followed by Alternative radio on March 8th.

The album title takes its name from a native saying in Jake’s Nottingham hometown which couldn’t be more fitting. Instead of saying on my own, they say on my one. “In a lot of ways it sums up this record because it mainly has been me on my own,” Jake says. “I saw this as the logical next step in my development as a songwriter. It was a challenge but something I felt I had to do.”

Jake wrote all eleven songs as well as produced most of the album except three Jacknife Lee (R.E.M, Radiohead, Kasabian) songs and played most of the instruments. Following the incredible worldwide success of his first two critically acclaimed albums, the 2013 debut ‘Jake Bugg’ and the follow-up ‘Shangri La’, this new album firmly establishes Jake as one of the most exciting songwriters and musicians today. Recorded in London, Los Angeles and Nottingham, highlights include the moving ‘Love Hope and Misery’ driven by a huge chorus, the stomping ‘Bitter Salt’, the soulful ‘Never Wanna Dance’ and the defining title track.

Jake will kick off his US campaign this March with sold out underplay shows at LA’s El Rey Theatre, NYC’s Bowery Ballroom, and Chicago’s Metro in addition to performing at SXSW.  Jake also will make his TV debut for “Gimme The Love” on Kimmel’s outdoor stage on March 15th.

For all its’ diversity, the sound of ‘On My One’ at its heart is the blues. “Blues is my favorite genre,” Jake admits. “Whether it’s soul or hip hop, it all stems from the blues. To me the blues just means singing your emotions and expressing your pain so others can feel it. That’s the beauty of music. If nothing else, I’d like to think I’ve done that with this record.”
