Placebo’s first single, ‘TOO MANY FRIENDS’, taken from their seventh studio album ‘LOUD LIKE LOVE’, has just been nominated for ‘Best Music Video’ category at SXSW Film Festival. It was directed by Saman Kesh, who has just completed the new full length promo video for the current single ‘LOUD LIKE LOVE’.

It is a continuation in the series of videos created by Saman for the bands new album, studying the micro details over the times as technology effects our social interactions. This time exploring a scenario in the swinging year of 1968. Once again it features narration by outspoken and controversial American novelist and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis. It was shot on location in Los Angeles and London, with the later shoot featuring the band performing in an ‘of the era’ 60’s TV show.

Saman comments:

‘‘Too Many Friends was about the isolationist future we could possibly live in. In Loud Like Love, we show a time that was almost the exact opposite. In the late 60's, it was a time of sexual revolution and almost "too much" interaction.

To keep the idea fresh from TMF, we wanted to focus deeper into our main characters & their relations to one another. On top of that, we wanted the video to be more invitational, poppy and overall "fun", which would make sense with the time period.

Bret (Easton Ellis) is a champ. He has become the voice of these videos...The process was essentially like working with an actor, and Bret embodied the "unreliable narrator" with flying 'psychedelic' colors!’’
