After the phenomenal success of the bestselling single of this summer, a ripped-from-the-heart, stripped-to-the-core cover of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own, Calum Scott releases new single, Rhythm Inside. Recorded in London and co-written by Calum with hotly tipped songwriter Corey Sanders and Cutfather and produced by Fraser T Smith (Adele), Rhythm Inside is an infectious feel good pop masterpiece; a mix of glistening synths, finger clicking beats combined with Calum’s stunning vocal. “Rhythm Inside is my first original piece of music and the concept is about those feelings you have when you meet that special person” says Calum, “I see it as the exciting inner journey you go through- I imagine the blood rushing through your veins, your hair standing on end, and the flutters that you have in your belly.  Most people have had that feeling about someone at some point in their lives and it’s nice to be able to write something hopeful.”

It’s been an incredible year for the singer songwriter from Hull. Scott has the kind of stats that’s led to him becoming one of the biggest names to watch for 2017.  Not just another TV talent show hopeful, Scott is a real, formidable artist who has already proved he has instant likability, a fervent fan base as well as staying power by resolving to alchemise his Britain’s Got Talent “failure” into personal gold.

In early 2016 he self-released his version of Dancing On My Own (recorded in his bedroom) which instantly shot up the Spotify charts in 34 countries. Upwards of half-a-dozen labels wanted to meet him. Beating off fierce competition, Capitol won the race to sign the quietly charismatic Brit and Calum chose Virgin EMI to represent him in the UK.

Dancing On My Own continued its march up the charts becoming No.1 on iTunes and spending 10 weeks in the top 5 in the UK singles chart, as well as being Top 10 airplay in 10 countries and Top 5 airplay in the UK for 12 consecutive weeks. It’s also in the Top 20 most played singles of the year at UK radio.

Smart and focused, Scott has been working on his debut album due for release late spring 2017. Writing with hand-picked collaborators at the legendary studio in Capitol Towers, he’s already recorded tracks with the aforementioned Fraser T Smith (Adele), Wayne Hector (One Direction), Steve Robson (James Bay) and Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse).

Earlier this month Calum began his first US headline tour kicking off with a sold out show at the legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles. The tour continued across the US, hitting New York, then Toronto. Knocking them dead on American daytime telly – his performance on Ellen has already racked up an incredible 1M views.

Tour complete, Scott intends to keep writing and recording well into the New Year, determined to come up with a matchless dozen. After all, he has only the greatest artists of all time to look up to. As a rare British signing to Capitol, a label steeped in foundational 20thcentury musical heritage, Scott is keeping rarefied company.
