On 24th August, House Gospel Choir release their highly anticipated first release on Island Records ‘Battle’, a re-work of UK Garage legend Wookie’s 2000 classic. The track features brand new production and instrumentation by Wookie himself, who personally approached the choir when he watched them perform it at Southport Weekender Festival. Wookie calls it’s “…a rare opportunity to be able to produce a cover of one my own records”. Honoured to collaborate on one of their favourite songs, House Gospel Choir say “It’s one of the first songs we learnt as a choir. It’s hard to put into words how much of a big deal it is to work with Wookie on our own version of this absolute classic. The meaning of the song has always resonated with us, we feel more people need to feel, hear and understand the message. Every day is like a battle, but we’ll overcome”.

A place where spirituality and euphoria of the dancefloor come together, London based House Gospel Choir bring their eclectic musical experience and unique spin on a traditional gospel choir to London’s KOKO on 4th October, for a night of uplifting tunes and power house vocals. The late great Frankie Knuckles once said house music is a “… church for people that have fallen from grace”, anyone who has been caught up in the rapture of a true house classic can testify to its power to unify and uplift.

Newly signed to Island Records, the choir founded by Creative Producer and vocalist Natalie Maddix will be releasing their own original material very soon, as well as some of their most popular re-works of house, gospel and garage tracks. From Crystal Waters to Barbara Tucker, Sounds of Blackness, Shaun Escoffery, Wookie and everything in-between, House Gospel Choir’s live show is a vibrant and energetic rave with live vocals and a DJ.
