LEIF O. RIBE NAMED GENERAL MANAGER OF WARNER MUSIC NORWAYOFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY Warner Music Group Leif O. Ribe has been named as the next General Manager of Warner Music Norway. He will take up the role from January 1st and report to Jonas Siljemark, President, Warner Music Nordics. Ribe will join the Warner Music team after working in a number of senior marketing and A&R roles at Sony Music Norway.
Jonas Siljemark adds: “Leif’s one of the most talented execs in the Norwegian business and I’m delighted he’s agreed to join us at Team Warner. He has an incredible track record in finding and nurturing great talent and he’s going to bring that sense of mission to Warner to help us be in pole position to work with the most interest artists out there.”
Ribe began his music industry career back in 2005, working at music retailer Platekompaniet while acting as co-manager for Norwegian hip hop artist Chris Lie. A stint in the US followed, studying for a Master’s in Music Business at New York University, while also undertaking internships at RCA Records and Columbia Records. Returning to Oslo, Ribe took up a role with booking agency Artistpartner, working for leading Norwegian artists including Erik og Kriss, Madcon and Tone Damli. He joined Sony Music Norway in 2009, working as a Project Manager in the company’s Live Department. He then moved to a role as International Product Manager, where he created and executed local marketing campaigns for artists including Beyoncé, Britney Spears, David Bowie, J. Cole and One Direction. Ribe was then promoted to become Domestic Marketing Director, also signing and A&Ring artists including Jesper Jenset, Katastrofe, Marcus & Martinus, Staysman & Lazz and Tungevaag & Raaban. He then became A&R Director, helping grow the company’s market share in domestic repertoire and handled A&R and international strategy for Nordic pop phenomenon Marcus & Martinus. In addition to a Master’s degree in Music Business from New York University, Ribe holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Marketing from BI Norwegian Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Oslo.
