New York, NY (March 6, 2020) – Following widespread praise and a mesmerizing performance at his album release party at NYC’s SOB’s last night, CJ Fly releases his highly anticipated debut album RUDEBWOY today via Pro Era Records. Listen to the Statik Selektah [Nas, Freddie Gibbs] produced album BELOW.

Celebrating true New York hip-hop, RUDEBWOY showcases the Brooklyn rapper’s wordplay and originality. The thirteen track album tells a story as it dives into CJ Fly’s life with each song narrating his past growing up in New York with Carribean roots. It offers the most intimate details, including a monologue from CJ’s father himself.

From the boom-clap beat and borough-rich lyrics heard in “Show You” to the explosive album title track “RUDEBWOY” [feat. Joey Bada$$] and the timeless East Coast style and hard-hitting flow heard in “City We From” [feat. Conway the Machine] , the album highlights CJ Fly’s undeniable lyricism and ability to create with no boundaries. With a personal flare that cannot be paralleled, the autobiographical album is an open book into CJ’s life.

On the project, CJ Fly shares, “The goal for my debut album RUDEBWOY with producer Statik Selektah is to bring back some Caribbean flavor to hip-hop and take it to a whole new height. I open up about the hardships myself and my immigrant parents experienced in this country, which led to me becoming a rudebwoy. Throughout the album, my father is heard giving some words of advice in a heavy Jamaican accent as I walk the listener through memory lane. This is my ‘best work yet’ and only a taste of what’s in store.”

RUDEBWOY has already garnered acclaim with each single release. “Grew Up” [feat. Haile Supreme] was called "an impressive all-around record" by Lyrical Lemonade, UPROXX commended CJ’s “slick lyricism”, and Hypebeast followed suit stating he "masterfully blends the sounds of his New York upbringing and Caribbean roots." His first 2020 release “Show You” was praised by HotNewHipHop as "unabashedly New York in the best possible way" and XXL added the release to their '13 Best New Songs This Week' roundup. Last year’s “City We From” [feat. Conway the Machine] and “RUDEBWOY” [feat. Joey Bada$$] turned heads, as Billboard proclaimed the latter as, “rowdy,” and Earmilk described it as “a patois-tinged jam” in addition to coverage by Okayplayer, HipHopDX, 2DopeBoyz,Word Is Bond, and many others.

With RUDEBWOY, the CJ Fly era has just begun.

About CJ Fly:
CJ Fly is an American rapper from Brooklyn, NY. As the only child of a Bajan mother and Jamaican father who raised him in Flatbush until later migrating to Bedstuy in his teens, CJ wasn’t familiar with much hip-hop music, other than what he heard on the radio, due to his parents mainly listening to reggae, soca, and other genres growing up. He shared their love for music and always wanted to be a musician of some sort. From writing poetry in the 7th grade, he then discovered A Tribe Called Quest and fell in love with the art of rapping. In high school, he met the other founding members of Pro Era and began pursuing his musical career. Throughout 2012 and 2013, he was featured on many of the collective's projects and towards the end of 2013, he released his critically acclaimed mixtape Thee Way Eye See It. In 2016, he released his second mixtape FLYTRAP and has since appeared on hip-hop supergroup Beast Coast’s Escape From New York album which was released in April 2019. CJ made his debut TV appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, as Beast Coast, delivering his verse on the single "Left Hand". After touring as a member of Beast Coast alongside Joey Bada$$, Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers and various members of Pro Era, he’s been gearing up to release his highly anticipated debut album fully produced by Statik Selektah and according to him, it’s his best work yet.
