Will.i.Am on animated character work: 'They hire you to be imaginative and funny'

Music star and 'The Voice' superstar Will.i.Am has voiced a new character in 'Rio 2' called Pedro and admitted that he's really happy with how the guest spot turned out on the movie.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the 'Boom Boom Pow' hitmaker explained that he's proud of voicing animated characters because it takes real skill to bring something to life that doesn't yet exist on screen:

"I like this the most. They hire you to be imaginative and clever and funny. Just imagine, you're really playing make-believe - more so than acting. It's not animated yet, it's just you and a microphone, imagining what it might look like. After that, the talented animators, the magicians, bring it to life.'

'Rio 2' is due to hit theatres later this month and it also stars the likes of Jamie Foxx, Jesse Eisenberg, and Kristin Chenoweth.
