Will.i.am has given his side of the story to reports that his hit song 'Scream & Shout' was originally intended for Tulisa.

Suggestion emerged recently in the press that the Black Eyed Peas man's track, which features Britney Spears, was destined for X Factor UK judge Tulisa.

A source had said: "The song was due to be Tulisa's third single from her album until Will told his protégé Jean that he wanted the beat for him and Britney."

However, will.i.am has told MTV that the producers of the track didn't want Tulisa to feature on the song. He said:

"She [Tulisa] wrote to that song before I did - this is the truth."

The Voice UK coach continued: "But the producers of the beat - two brothers from Belgium called Lazy Jay - didn't want her to have it, so I wrote to it and Britney is the only person I ever had in mind."

'Scream & Shout' hit No.1 on the UK iTunes chart upon release and is set to feature on the rapper's forthcoming new album '#willpower'.
