Howard Bloom, founder and chair of the Space Development Steering Committee, urges Democrats and Republicans to realize that there is a solution to man-made climate change. It’s called space solar power.

Harvesting solar power in space and transmitting it to earth using harmless electromagnetic waves like the ones your phone uses, that’s space solar power. We’ve been harvesting solar power in space and transmitting it to earth for nearly 60 years, ever since 1962 when the first commercial satellite was launched, a satellite encrusted with solar panels.

Here’s what Bloom says a big scale-up of space solar power can achieve:

• Totally eliminate the man-made contribution to global warming. Totally.
• Eliminate the emission of man-made greenhouse gases. Totally.
• Eliminate the use of fossil fuels for energy production. Totally.

And, according to Bloom’s late partner in space solar power, India’s eleventh president, Dr. APJ Kalam

• Lift two billion people out of poverty.

Says Bloom: “Space solar power is the green new deal. And if we don’t develop it, China will. China intends to own the space solar power industry by 2035. Completely. China already has its first space solar power components factory. If China owns space solar power, it will own the mid-21st century.”

Howard Bloom, who founded the Space Development Steering Committee at the behest of Buzz Aldrin, is the author of seven books, including the new Einstein, Michael Jackson & Me: a Search for Soul in the Power Pits of Rock & Roll. Bloom’s second book, Global Brain, was the subject of an Office of the Secretary of Defense symposium with participants from the State Department, the Energy Department, DARPA, IBM, and MIT.
