You Me At Six describe Download headline slot as 'surreal'

You Me At Six have described their upcoming headline slot at the Download Festival as ‘surreal.’

The Surrey quintet, who will also appear at Reading & Leeds in August, told the NME that they’re looking forward to playing songs from their current album, ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ during their set on June 9.

Drummer Dan Flint said: “It'll be the first time we've ever played after dark at a festival. That'll be a different kind of experience. To be one of the headliners playing Download is going to be surreal.

"It's one of those things. We don't want to get too excited about it, as we don't want it to be not as good as we expect it to be. But I think on the day, it's going be absolutely amazing."

The Kerrang! favourites also discussed new single, 'The Swarm,' their soundtrack to the new Thorpe Park rollercoaster which entered the Top 40 yesterday.

Guitarist Max Helyer said: "It's basically about the end of the world and the ride is full of near misses and loads of near hits. Thorpe Park told us it was going to be very scary, so we decided we'd rock it up a little bit more, make it a bit more heavier and a bit hairier."
