Zayn Malik has reached No.1 on the Australian singles chart.

The singer released his first piece of post-One Direction music - the single 'Pillowtalk - in late January.

It has now reached No.1 on Australia's ARIA chart.

It echoes Malik's chart-topping exploits in his native UK.

The single is the first tune lifted from the singer's upcoming debut album 'Mind of Mine', which will land on March 25.

The release date is exactly one year on from when Malik left One Direction - but he says the anniversary wasn't intentional.

Topping this week's Australian albums chart meanwhile is Sia's new effort 'This Is Acting'.
