Singer Zayn Malik recently sat down for an interview with GenFM and opened up about the past twelve months of his blossoming solo career. 

The 'Pillowtalk' sensation confessed that he doesn't want to pigeonhole himself by describing his music as falling within any one particular genre: "I'm not trying to put myself out there as any specific genre of artist...I'm just putting music out and if people like it then that's cool."

Referring to the way fans have been so supportive, Malik admitted that he's overwhelmed and didn't expect his music to be so successful: "The fans have been amazing; the support's been really cool. Obviously I didn't expect the reaction to be the way it has been, so it's been really cool."

On having a Billboard No.1 album, the sensation added: "Again, [I was] just blown away. I really don't know what to say; I just didn't expect it but I'm enjoying it. It's fun."
