Three years ago Manchester made a successful bid to host taekwondo’s 2019 World Championships. The championships were a massive success, and nearly 1,000 athletes representing 150 nations competed in 16 weight divisions from May 15-19 at the iconic Manchester Arena.

Sunday 19th May at the world renowned Manchester Arena saw the climax of the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships. The Sport that attracts a global audience brought together contestants from around the world a showcased a true global spirit, togetherness, blended with an amazing mixture of history, culture and sporting talent during the five day tournament. Thousands of spectators packed the arena with a global audience also tuning in via live broadcast.

Manchester Urban collective the Moods closed out the ceremony and were on top of the world, their forthcoming single #strong was adopted by organisers as "unofficial anthem for the tournament" by GB Taekwondo, and it hit the spot with the massive crowd as it resonated out across the arena, the band were joined onstage by the amazing Manchester Show Choir. The show closed with artists, performers, dancers, taekwondo display team, traditional Chinese dragons all joining together in a celebration of unity as the bands track #Carnival set the arena dancing.

The closing ceremony was a true credit to the organisers, GB taekwondo, who were the host country for this spectacle in the city of Manchester. The new single and the "mighty moods" wowed a global audience, accompanied by lasers, dragons, confetti cannons, flag waving dance troupe, plus all the nights performers, and the massive Manchester choir. "A rousing sea of global togetherness on that iconic stage". Skilfully and expertly choreographed and arranged by technical organisers and events experts, "Gary Beestone events and theatre company".

The Moods are currently on tour and you can see them across the UK and at festivals all summer long. The New single #Strong will be released this summer.

The Moods have been wisely described as "Rage Against the Machine, The Prodigy and The Happy Mondays mixed into a grime-soufflé". Formed in Manchester in 2014, this collective, unifies rap, brass and strings, delivering a brilliant fusion of drum & bass, hip-hop, reggae and EDM.
