Adam Lambert pays tribute to Joan Rivers: 'You were a bright light till the end'

Adam Lambert has paid his respects to Joan Rivers.

The iconic comedienne passed away aged 81 on Thursday (September 4) after failing to recover from a cardiac arrest suffered during throat surgery last week (August 28) in New York.

Lambert, who had worked with Rivers on US TV, took to Instagram to share a photo of himself with the star, adding:

"Goodbye Joan. You were a bright light till the end. What a beautiful life and grand career you shared with us all! RIP. ;(."

Last year Lambert won a 'date' with Rivers on TV show the Fashion Police as they celebrated her 80th birthday.

Speaking about how he would like to spend the day with the comedienne, Lambert said:

"We would be sipping champagne, caviar; we would shop the day away. I would take you to get a facial, dermabrasion, a peel, makeup done, hair set - buy you anything you want."

He added that they would then "fall asleep watching Fashion Police".
