Adam Lambert on Freddie Mercury: 'He was outspoken about his sexuality without coming out'

Earlier this week, vocal powerhouse Adam Lambert closed AT&T's 2014 'Live Proud' campaign at a special private VIP finale event and stopped to talk with the press about fronting legendary rock band Queen, and what he thought about the great Freddie Mercury.

On his way into the event, Lambert had a brief chat with the Examiner and opened up about the late Freddie Mercury, admitting that the Queen icon was fairly bold in his approach to showing his sexuality given the time he was living in:

"Even though he didn't acknowledge that he was out as gay, I think that he was kinda outspoken about it. I mean, he joked about it all the time. He never really said 'no I'm not.' So I think back in the 70s and the 80s it was kinda interesting because the grey area was a bit wider."

While on stage performing, the 'Trespassing' hitmaker told the audience that love truly does conquer all and it's the one thing everyone has in common:

"I think the thing that binds together the LGBT community, the things that defines us, is sexuality. We all just want love, don't we? It's all about love. Or finding other things in the meantime when you're trying to find love, that's cool too. Love is a tough game."
