Adam Lambert: 'As a pop musician, trends are part of my job'

Adam Lambert has opened up on the importance of musical trend in pop.

The singer covers the new issue of Billboard magazine, which is entitled 'Music’s Men of Style'.

Speaking in his accompanying feature, Lambert said that being a "pop musician" means he needs to echo trends and fashions in terms of sound.

He said: "As a pop musician, [trends] are part of my job; to reflect what people like.

"Production and the way something sounds are very much like fashion, where for a particular season people are gravitating toward something."

Discussing his current fashion inspiration meanwhile, Lambert said:

"I've put down a lot of the makeup. I put the flat iron in the attic. I'm looking at people like Elvis and James Dean."
