Adam Lambert's Billboard 200 midweek No.1 with 'Trespassing' confirmed

Earlier this afternoon (May 23) Billboard.com confirmed the midweek chart positions and revealed that Adam Lambert's sophomore offering, 'Trespassing', has secured the No.1 spot.

Nielsen SoundScan explained that 77,000 copies of the record were sold.

Pressparty reported last night (May 22) that this impressive feat had made him the first openly gay recording artist to have an album debut at No.1 in America and now that his midweek success has been locked in he can celebrate the incredible achievement.

He took to social networking site Twitter several minutes ago to thank his fans for their dedication and continued support, writing:

"WOW! #Trespassing made its debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 this week! Thank you to the Glamily for helping me make HISTORY!"

Brian London, Lambert's new musical director, also congratulated him on the fantastic news: "Congrats to the Homie @adamlambert for a #1 album! TRESPASSING!! You made history dude!!"
