Adele leads Germany's Echo Awards with three nominations

'Rolling In The Deep' sensation Adele is up for a total of three prizes at this year's Echo Awards, which is Germany's equivalent to the GRAMMYs.

The 2016 Echo Awards will take place in Berlin, Germany on April 7 and Adele's nominations are for Album of the Year, Best Female Artist (International), and Hit of the Year, which is a best song honour for her smash hit single, 'Hello'. 

Adele is the only international artist in the running for the best album prize, and she will go up against Fischer, Sarah Conner (for Muttersprache), Santiano (Von Liebe, Tod und Freiheit) and the compilation album Sing Meinen Song, Das Tauschkonzert Vol. 2.

For the Best Female Artist (international) category, Adele will face tougher competition as the likes of Taylor Swift (nominated for '1989') Madonna ('Rebel Heart'), Enya ('Dark Sky Island'), and Austrian pop star Christina Sturmer ('Gestern. Heute — Best Of') are all in the running.

The late David Bowie received a posthumous nomination in the Best Male Artist (International) category for his final album, 'Blackstar', and Justin Bieber, James Bay, Ed Sheeran and Mark Knopfler are also up for the prize. 

Other internationally known acts collecting Echo nominations include Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, One Direction, Sunrise Avenue and Florence + The Machine, who will face off for the the Best Rock/Pop Act award.

The Best Hip-Hop/Rap (International) category is comprised of Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Dr. Dre, Chris Brown & Tyga and The Weeknd.
