Adele breaks Eminem’s record

It’s been less than a week since Eminem became the first artist to sell one million downloads of an album in the US and already his record’s been smashed.

The rapper took the title just over songstress Adele at the time, whose sales were only slightly behind at 992,000. However, the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ singer has since overtaken Eminem and now holds the record for fastest selling digital album.

According to Official Charts Company figures, Adele’s album ‘21’ is also Britain’s highest selling album of 2011 so far and ‘Someone Like You’ is the biggest selling British single of the decade and the first song to sell over one million copies in the UK in the 2010s.

The singer recently returned to the stage after having to cancel her US tour over illness, but it seems her lack of appearances has done nothing to hamper her popularity.
