Adele's immortal '21' has topped the official UK albums chart on its 50th week in the chart.

The sophomore album has stayed put in the upper echelons of the chart for a number of months but this evening (January 8) it returned to the top spot.

It resigned Bruno Mars' 'Doo Wops & Hooligans' to No.2, with Ed Sheeran's '+' - last week's No.1 - slipping to No.3.

Elsewhere in the albums chart, Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto' dropped to No.4 whilst the Vaccines' 'What Did You Expect From The Vaccines' shot up an impressive seventeen places to No.16.
