Adele named fans' favourite to record next James Bond theme

Adele has come out trumps in a poll to find the public's favourite musician for the next James Bond theme song.

The role has a long history behind it, with everyone from the likes of Sir Tom Jones, Jack White and Duran Duran all performing theme songs for the film franchise in the past.

And in a poll run by entertainment website IGN, Adele was picked as the tip to record the theme for upcoming Bond film 'Skyfall'.

She beat off competition from Muse, who came in second place. Other names on the list include Foo Fighters, Florence + The Machine and Rihanna.

IGN's entertainment editor Chris Tilly said:

"If producers are still not sure about their choice to sing the next Bond theme, the fans are clearly backing Adele. She's a global superstar and clearly has the vocal talent to produce a big Bond song reminiscent of Shirley Bassey and Lulu, rather than the forgettable misfires recorded more recently by the likes of Garbage and Madonna."
