Adele has topped a poll to find Britain's most popular act.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, some 730,000 people named Adele as their number one artist.

The research, which was conducted by ticketers StubHub, says that Britons spent about £36m on buying Adele concert tickets and merchandise between 2011 and 2012.

However, Take That fans spent £40m towards their band over the same period.
