Adele's '21' drops out of UK Top 40 for the first time

Adele's hit album '21' has left the Top 40 of the UK singles chart for the first time since it was released last year.

The record was unleashed in January 2011 and enjoyed a long stint at the top of the chart.

On Sunday (November 25), however, the album dropped to No.42 - the first time it found itself out of the UK Top 40.

'21' has sold over 4.5 million units in the UK to date and is the fifth best selling record in the UK of all time.

It also enjoyed a staggering 71 consecutive weeks in the top ten of the UK singles chart.

This week's UK No.1 album is Rihanna's 'Unapologetic', which features a duet with former boyfriend Chris Brown.

The record, which is the singer's seventh studio release, marked the fourth time she hit the top of the UK albums chart.
