Adele's 'Skyfall' nominated for Oscar

Adele's 'Skyfall' has been nominated for an Oscar.

The vocal star recorded the theme last year for latest James Bond film Skyfall and it was warmly received by fans and critics.

Nominations for the Academy Awards were released today (January 10) and the track has been included in the shortlist for the Best Original Song category.

The British singer is up against the likes of Hugh Jackman's 'Suddenly' from Les Misérables and 'Pi's Lullaby' from Life of Pi.

Other nominees in the category are Ted's 'Everybody Needs A Friend' and 'Before My Time' from Chasing Ice.

The 2013 Oscars are set to take place on February 24 in Hollywood.

As previously reported, Adele looks set to make her first public appearance in months at this year's Golden Globe awards on Sunday (January 13), with 'Skyfall' similarly nominated for a gong.
