Adele’s cancer-stricken father’s plea to meet grandson

The estranged father of pop singer Adele has made a public plea to meet his grandson before he passes away from cancer.

Mark Evans is a former alcoholic and left Adele and her mother Penny when the singer was three years old. Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he admitted that he was the reason for their rift, but still has a desire to meet his 10-month-old grandson Angelo.

“I was not there for my daughter when I should have been,” he said. “I have regretted that every second of every day. It tears me up inside.

“I still haven't met Angelo and I'm facing the fact I may never do. It could be over for me before I get to make my peace with Adele.”

Evans has had several tumours removed from his stomach and colon and is currently awaiting test results to see if the disease has been stopped. Throughout his troubles he has tried getting a hold of his daughter, but to no avail.

“I'm hitting a brick wall. Trying to get hold of my daughter is like trying to call the US president.

“All my friends say, 'What's going on Mark?' I have to tell them I just don't know. I've just been ostracised.

“I haven't got Adele or Penny's number. I sent birthday cards via her record label but never hear back.”
