Sam Smith holds onto No.1 for a second week with 'In The Lonely Hour'

Sam Smith’s 'In The Lonely Hour' is the UK’s biggest selling album for a second week running, the Official Charts Company can confirm.

The BRIT Award-winning singer/songwriter knocked Coldplay’s 'Ghost Stories' off the top of the Official Albums Chart last Sunday with his debut full-length. In doing so, 'In The Lonely Hour' became the fastest selling debut album released this year, selling over 101,000 copies in the UK during its first week on sale. It has sold an additional 48,500 copies in the last seven days.

Meanwhile, Coldplay hold firm at No. 2 today, while London-based classical crossover quartet Clean Bandit are new in at No.3 with their debut album, 'New Eyes'. The album features Clean Bandit’s previous Top 40 singles 'Mozart’s House', 'Extraordinary' ft. Sharna Bass, and 'Rather Be' ft. Jess Glynne, which spent four weeks at No.1 on the Official Singles Chart back in January.

Paolo Nutini’s 'Caustic Love' (No.4) and Paloma Faith’s 'A Perfect Contradiction' (5) round off today’s Top 5.

Paul Weller’s 'More Modern Classics' enters the Official Albums Chart at No.6 today, while the deluxe re-issue of Led Zeppelin’s self-titled debut album has propelled the 1969 release back into the Top 10 (it re-enters at No. 7 today). The legendary rock band’s follow-ups, 'Led Zeppelin II' and 'Led Zeppelin III', also have re-entered the Official Albums Chart at No.12 and No/10, respectively.

Hank Marvin’s 'Hank' is new in at No.8, while James’s 'La Petite Mort' enters at No.11 today. This week’s new entries are completed by Vera Lynn’s 'National Treasure' (13) and 50 Cent’s 'Animal Ambition' (21).
