Plan B on mainstream success

UK Rapper Plan B, who is set to release his new single 'Prayin'' on July 12, has credited shifting away from his previous hip-hop sound as the reason for his mainstream success.

The singer, who is performing at this weekend's Glastonbury festival, said that he believes his decision to incorporate a more soulful sound into his music has helped him secure a slot at the four-day event.

"It took four years to break even on the first record," he explained. "My lyrics were coarse, the themes were really dark and a lot of doors got slammed in my face. Radio stations wouldn’t play me. Glastonbury wouldn’t book me."
