Katy Perry beats record

According to the UK midweek charts, Katy Perry is on course for a second week at number one with her latest single 'California Gurls', which is currently at the top of both the US and UK singles charts.

'California Gurls' has scored a US airplay record and received the most spins on radio over the course of a week ever. The track was played 11,816 times last week, which works on average about 90 plays per station.

The figure beats previous record holders Ke$ha and Lady GaGa, who take second and third position respectively with 'Tik Tok' and 'Bad Romance'.
