Lady GaGa's Grammy snub

An outcry amongst fans has prompted Grammy officials to amend the rules of eligibility, following Lady GaGa's absence from receiving a prize at this year's event.

The popstar was deemed an obvious contender for the 'Best New Artist' category this year but was ignored by officials because she was unsuccessful in being nominated for 'Best Single' the previous year.

Under the new rules, acts who weren't nominated for 'Best Single' in the previous year will now be eligible for the 'Best New Artist' award.

GaGa still won 'Best Dance Recording' for 'Poker Face' and 'Best Electronica/Dance Album' for 'The Fame' at this year's Grammys.
