M.I.A. performs 'Born Free'

 

Outspoken British-Sri Lankan born singer M.I.A. performed her controversial new single 'Born Free' on 'The Late Show with David Letterman' yesterday (July 13).

She was joined by Suicide's Martin Rev - who played live synthesiser - and a number of backing performers dressed in identical outfits.

At the end of the performance Letterman exclaimed, "That was lovely," before adding, "happy Halloween" to the supporting cast.

Few albums in 2010 have stirred up more anticipation and discussion that M.I.A.'s "/\/\ /\ Y /\". The buzz is thanks part to the outspoken artist's personal and political image, which was recently highlighted in the shocking video she shot for 'Born Free', a lengthly New York Times Magazine article and Billboard Magazine's own cover story.
