Ellie Goulding has fuelled speculation that her next album, 'Sophomore', may have a folk sound.

"My favourite band are Stornoway and they’ve really inspired me," she explained. "I’ve written a couple tracks and it’s sounding really cool and different. My voice has changed and I wanted the new material to have a lot more of my voice by itself."

She continued, "I’d like people to hear more of it because that’s my instrument. One of the new songs is really dark. It’s about people who are obsessed with each other and wake up one morning and neither can move."

Ellie Goulding is set to release her latest single, 'The Writer', on August 9.
