Gaga campaigning for gay army rights

American superstar Lady Gaga is backing a campaign to overturn a law which forces gay and lesbians soldiers to keep their sexuality secret in the army.

The singer posted several messages onto Twitter asking her fans to protest against the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' law.

Although the vote is being held next week to scrap the law, the iconic superstar is protesting against Senator John McCain, who plans to obstruct the motion.

Gaga said, "My name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, also known as Lady Gaga. I'm calling the Senators... to repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' and oppose John McCain's shameless filibuster. Anyone qualified to serve this country should be allowed to do so. We were born this way."
