Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees

Gene Simmons of KISS has spoken before of his band’s ongoing snub from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He’ll probably have more to say today given that KISS have once again been snubbed, though ironically the press release announcing the nominees acknowledges KISS in announcing that without them there would have been no Alice Cooper, just one of the new list of nominees.

The rest of the list in full: the Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Chic, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, the J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits, and Chuck Willis.

Repeat nominees include the Beastie Boys, Chic and Donna Summer. Tom Waits, for starters, is a first-time nominee while some of the names are less familiar. Chuck Willis began his career as an R&B stalwart before crossing over into more mainstream pop. Joe Tex is an old rival of James Brown’s.

Inductees will be announced in a few weeks’ time with a starry induction ceremony due to be held next Spring.
