Rita Ora's The Voice protége upset to see the star on X Factor

Karis Thomas, Rita Ora's protége from the last season of The Voice, told Wales Online that seeing her on the rival show, X Factor, was 'a kick in the teeth'.

Thomas said she was left high and dry with no record company contract on leaving The Voice after its semi-final. Thomas from Bridgend said:

"After the show it's like you're on your own, left with no contracts.

"When I saw Rita Ora on the X Factor it felt like a bit of a kick in the teeth. I saw somebody else's dreams come true and mine fell through the gaps. But I'm working hard to prove I can do it."

Rita Ora mentored Karis Thomas on The Voice and also X Factor winner, Louisa Johnson.

The 17-year-old semi-finalist feels neglected since the last series of The Voice ended a year ago, whilst Ora has moved onto Simon Cowell's X Factor but she has big plans for 2016:

"I'm trying hard to be my own artist, rather than 'Karis from The Voice.' I'll be going to the studio in London later this month and in the summer I'll be going out to perform in Ibiza."
