'Glee' cast beat Beatles’ record

The cast of musical series ‘Glee’ has beaten the Beatles for the record of most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a non-solo act.

The musical series about high school wannabes had six new releases on the chart this week, giving them a total of 75 songs on the chart to the Beatles’ 71.

The show’s soundtrack was given a boost  earlier this week after an episode featuring Britney Spears was aired, with the cast having sold a reported 2.8 million albums and 11.5 million downloads.

However, they still have a way to go before the can topple the current number one for overall songs on the chart, Elvis Presley. The King still holds the record with 108 songs to chart the Hot 100.
