Cher comes to the rescue of water shortage victims in Michigan

Superstar, Cher, has joined forces with Los Angeles-based Icelandic Glacial to donate 181,440 bottles of water to the residents of Flint in Michigan after learning about the city's water crisis.

Cher told Billboard:

"It was nothing - I mean, it wasn't nothing because it was so f**king hard to get accomplished, but I felt like I needed to do something. I mean, people have known that the (Flint) river was polluted forever. Why would they go to that as the water source? It's mind-boggling."

Flint has had no clean water for over a year when tests found Legionnaires' disease in the public water system. The National Guard has been sent in to distribute water to residents and President Obama declared a state of emergency and provided federal aid on January 16.

Cher learned about the situation whilst watching MSNBC. The bottles will be distributed via the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan today (January 20).
