Busta Rhymes' rap battle with Jay-Z

Busta Rhymes has recalled participating in a rapping contest with Jay-Z when the two were youngsters and admits to having lost.

Both rappers went to the same high school in Brooklyn, New York (as did the late rap icon Notorious B.I.G.) and one day decided to test their rapping skills in the school cafeteria.

"He kind of got the best of the situation," Busta explained to RapFix Live. "I got to give it up."

"He was so ill and his arsenal was so long that he had more than what I did," Rhymes recalled. "I spit my one rap, and my tank was empty real fast. He came with two or three after that, and I was like, 'Here we go.' But I gave it my best."

"That was probably the first time that I lost a battle that mattered," explained Busta. "[Jay-Z] always exemplified greatness as an MC. He was a scientist with it."

Busta Rhymes is set to release a new studio album before the year is out, entitled ‘E.L.E.2. (Extiction Level Event 2)’
