Pacino to play Phil Spector in movie

Godfather legend, Al Pacino, is set to star as Phil Spector in a TV film to be written and directed by David Mamet.

Spector, who produced some of the biggest records of all time, including The Beatles’ ‘Let it Be’, developed a strange fascination with guns in later life and in 2009 was given a life sentence for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson.

Pacino’s agent, John L Burnham said that Pacino took the role because, “he just saw a very interesting character to play”.

Barry Levinson, who won an Oscar for directing ‘Rain Man’, has been lined up as executive producer.
