Nathan Sykes and Olly Murs to support Take That

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park kicked off its announcements for 2016 with news of Take That's very first festival headline show.

The biggest band in British pop need a very special guest and as one of the country's best loved solo stars, Olly Murs is stepping up to perform his own set on the giant Great Oak Stage.

The irrepressible Murs has scored 4 UK Number 1 singles, 3 UK Number 1 albums, sold 10 million records and co-presented the X Factor with Caroline Flack, the show that shot him to fame in 2009.

His latest single 'Kiss Me' (see below), showcased a smart new electro-pop direction and hits such as 'Heart Skips A Beat', 'Dance With Me Tonight' and 'Troublemaker' fill the UK airwaves. A recent 28 date sold out arena tour in support of latest album 'Never Been Better' firmly established him as one of the country’s biggest draws.

An all-round entertainer, singer/songwriter and, of course, Take That fan, Murs is the man to get the party started at Hyde Park.

"Hyde Park is an amazing place for a gig, and I’ve actually never played there so this is going to be up there with the biggest shows I’ve done. I love the Take That guys and it’ll be great to see them there. Everyone who comes to my gigs knows I like enjoying myself and having loads of fun with the crowd… I’m looking forward to a great night!”

Also announced today are Ella Eyre, Jamie Lawson and Nathan Sykes.

Eyre has been deluged with accolades since bursting onto the scene in 2013 as the voice of Rudimental’s Number 1 smash 'Waiting All Night,' and has enjoyed stellar collaborations with Wiz Khalifa, Naughty Boy, Bastille and Tinie Tempah before releasing her debut album 'Feline' last year.

In 2014, she won Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards before topping that in 2015 with the Best Female award. Hyde Park will reunite her with Olly Murs – she was his guest on his 2015 Arena Tour.

Jamie Lawson is the first signing to Gingerbread Man Records, the label set up by global star Ed Sheeran. His song ‘Wasn’t Expecting That’ has become an international hit after Sheeran remembered Lawson from their days gigging together and invited him on his UK and European tour. He then joined One Direction for their UK tour last year and is enjoying the unexpected spotlight shone on him by the world’s biggest stars. His self titled debut album debuted at Number 1 last year, replacing Ed Sheeran!

Sykes found fame in huge boyband The Wanted before flying solo and preparing his upcoming debut album which is due later this year, picking up plaudits on both sides of the Atlantic. His recent iTunes Top 5 single 'Over And Over Again' has just been remade featuring Ariana Grande and it is safe to say that by the time he takes to the Hyde Park stage, he will be one of the most talked about pop stars around.
