Kings of Leon singer Caleb Followill has revealed that he was close to joining the US military before pursuing a career in music.

The Tennessee heartthrob told OK! Magazine he almost signed up for military service due to being “fed up” with his life:

“We were sitting in a parking lot. I look and there was a thing to sign up for the military. I was looking at it really hard and thinking I’m gonna do it. I was just fed up with where my life was going.”

However, Followill stated that an inexplicable urge to write music ended up being too great:

“As God is my witness, it was like ‘Field Of Dreams’ – ‘if you build it, he will come’. Something said, ‘write a song’.”
