Divinyls singer hit by breast cancer

Former Divinyls frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett has revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The ‘I Touch Myself’ singer was already suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) and says that the cancer battle she faces now has “thrown her for six”.

Talking to Aussie paper ‘The Age’, 51-year-old Amphlett said: “It’s s**t and it’s unfair, but life is not fair – even rock stars get breast cancer."

“But there have been many girls before me who have dealt with it successfully. It’s easy to feel sorry for me, but I feel sorry for people who are suffering it alone.”

The singer admits that her MS makes the battle an even more uphill one, but still has confidence in her recovery.

“With my MS it makes treatment a little more difficult. I can’t have radiation,” she explained. “But I have the best people here ... I’m strong and I will get over this.”
