Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Charlie XCX and more win NME Awards

The NME Awards With Austin Texas took place in Brixton Academy this evening (February 17), the event was dedicated to David Bowie and Viola Beach.

Coldplay, Yoko Ono, Foals, Kylie Minogue, Katy B and many more (see below) turned up for the annual indie extravaganza.

Foals opened the show with 'What Went Down.' Model/DJ, Amber LeBon presented first award for 'Best Track' to Wolf Alice for 'Giant Peach'.

The 'Best Music Video Award' went to Slaves for 'Cheer Up London'. Ratboy won 'Best New Artist'. 'This Is England 90' won 'Best TV Show.' 

The Maccabees performed 'Marks to Prove It', just before the 'Best International Band Award' went to Jewel. The 'Best British Solo Artist Award' was picked up by Charlie XCX who said:

'This is weird, maybe I'm the only one who showed up.'

The 'Best Festival Award' was won by Glastonbury and picked by Emily and Michael Eavis who turned up wearing shorts.

The 'NME Inspiration Award' was presented by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore to Yoko Ono who received a standing ovation. It is her 83rd birthday tomorrow (February 18).

 

 

'The Music Moment of The Year Award' went to The Libertines for their 'secret Glastonbury set', and was presented by Krept and Konan. Blur won 'Best Film' for 'New World Towers'. 

Katy B announced the 'Best International Solo Artist Award' winner as Taylor Swift who sent a video message thanking NME for the 'little aggressive award' but understood 'it's a strange compliment.'

'NME Innovation Award' went to Bring Me The Horizon who performed at the ceremony. The 'Best Album Award' was won by Foals for 'What Went Down'. 'Best Live Band' went to Wolf Alice. 'Best British Band' was presented by Ricky Wilson to The Maccabees.

The final award was the 'Godlike Genius Award' which was presented by Kylie Minogue and the editor of NME to Coldplay, who went on to play a set for the audience.
