Kid Rock has blasted Aerosmith frontman, Steve Tyler, for his decision to join the judging panel on 'American Idol'.

Never known for mincing his words, Rock, whose new album, ‘Born Free’, will be released on 16 November, hit out at Tyler in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, due to be published next week.

“I think it’s the stupidest thing he’s ever done in his life,” he fumed. “He’s a sacred American institution of rock ‘n’ roll, and he just threw it all out of the window. Just stomped on it and set it on fire."

“I think whoever’s advising him,” he added, “we should bring back the guillotine, or whatever they call that thing. And if it was himself, he needs some serious counselling. I love him to death, but I just gotta speak the truth.”

Tyler, who was offered the position earlier in the year, said that it was a “great opportunity” and will be joining the show along with Jennifer Lopez.
