Arcade Fire have premiered the Spike Jonze-directed video for their upcoming single, 'The Suburbs'. 

The video portrays a group of teenagers riding bikes before national guardsmen raid their homes and question the children.

Shot in the suburbs of Austin, Texas, the video was based on the concept of "friends growing apart" according to Jonze.

Singer Win Butler said: "It was great just hanging out with these 15-year-olds for a week and writing down all the funny things they said. It was cool to revert to being a 15-year-old for a little while."

'The Suburbs' is a track taken from the album of the same title. It is due to be released on December 20.
