Winners Announced for the 2010 'American Music Awards'

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21, 2010 -- Winners of the 38th Annual American Music Awards (AMAs) were announced this evening from the Nokia Theatre, L.A LIVE. The show aired live on ABC at 8:00pm ET/ 7:00pm CT. Produced by dick clark productions (dcp), the 2010 AMAs were produced by Larry Klein and executive produced by Orly Adelson, president of dcp.

AMA highlights included live performances by Justin Bieber, P!nk, Ke$ha, Usher and a powerful opening medley by Rihanna featuring "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)," "What's My Name," and "Only Girl In the World."  Other highlights included Katy Perry lighting up the stage with "Firework" and Christina Aguilera performing "Express" from her upcoming film Burlesque. The night also marked television history as New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys closed the show together on one stage.

Winners of the 38th Annual American Music Awards included Justin Bieber taking home his first-ever AMAs winning 4 total, including Artist of the Year, Taylor Swift taking home Favorite Female Artist (Country), Rihanna presented with the Favorite Female Artist (Soul/R&B), Eminem winning 2 awards for Favorite Male Artist  and Album (Rap/Hip-Hop) and The Black Eyed Peas taking home the Favorite Band, Duo or Group (Pop/Rock). For the second year, dick clark productions streamed a live red carpet digital pre-show, "Coca-Cola Red Carpet Live! @ the 2010 AMAs," at 2:00 PM (PT) / 5:00 PM (ET) on ABC.com and Ustream.tv. The pre-show, featured hosts Danny Gokey, Jennette McCurdy, Lance Bass, Whitney Port and the returning Coca-Cola Correspondent David Lehre interviewing celebrities and updating fans on all the red carpet action.

For the fourth year, winners were determined by online voting at the official Coca-Cola voting location www.amavote.com as well as ama.abc.com.
