Dancing to recorded/live music banned in Buenos Aires after Time Warp deaths

A judge has banned 'all commercial activity involving dancing with live and recorded music' in the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires following the deaths of five people who attended the Time Warp Festival in April. Another five are still in hospital.

Judge Roberto Gallardo passed the new legislation on April 29.

The closure will be enforced until the city government has worked out a way of controlling the illegal drug trade at 'electronic dance parties.' Gallardo is insisting on a schedule of inspections and an anti-drug strategy.

No commercial dancing will be allowed until his order is carried out. Until then "all dancing to recorded or live music was banned until the order was carried out."

Some nightclub owners will not follow the new ruling. Jorge Becco, head of the Buenos Aires chamber of discotheque owners, told the local media:

"How do you obey a totally unconsitutional order like this one?

"This guy is living in a shoe box. We are not the same as the Time Warp festival."

Others have taken to Twitter to offer their houses up for non-commercial dance parties.
