Songwriter and producer Dr Luke files second libel lawsuit against Kesha's mother

Songwriter and producer Dr Luke has filed a second libel lawsuit against the mother of Kesha.

He originally filed a lawsuit against Pebe Sebert in October 2014, citing "defamation" and "tortious interference" regarding the legal dispute between himself and her daughter.

However, last Thursday (September 7), Dr Luke filed another lawsuit about an interview Kesha's mother gave to Billboard earlier this year in March.

Dr. Luke's lawyer, Christina Lepera, told Rolling Stone: "After we originally filed suit against Pebe Sebert, she continued to make outrageous, false, and defamatory statements against Dr. Luke in her widespread media campaign to damage him and smear his name."

Pebe Sebert's lawyer responded: "This marks Dr. Luke's second effort to sue a mother for publicly supporting and believing her daughter about being raped. It's also a transparent attempt to delay the trial of these issues."

In October 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit in California against producer and label boss Dr Luke, citing "mental manipulation, emotional abuse and sexual assault". Dr Luke then countersued for defamation.

The lawsuit was halted last June and it has since been confirmed that it has been dropped altogether now, so that Kesha can focus on her New York legal proceedings.
